I will start off by saying that this vacation is unforgettable for our entire family. We had people coming together for this epic trip from Mumbai, Chicago, Seattle, New Jersey and Washington DC and meeting up in Vancouver, Canada. It was the first trip we took with the entire family and a few friends also! That made us a group of 20 adults together on this journey. This trip was planned more than a year in advance by my husband’s Aunt (in Marathi language- Aunt = Aatya). All credit to her for making this happen.

And, YES, it takes that long to plan such trips when you have to co-ordinate everybody’s time to plan to make the most of 8-10 days we had. You will see why in the next few posts…

For us the vacation plan began with a road trip to New Jersey to join some of our family members. We flew from EWR (Liberty International Airport, NJ) to Vancouver International Airport in Richmond, Vancouver , Canada; arriving on late Friday night. Sadly, we were left famished with not one eatery open inside or around the Airport’s walking distance. But, we had a shuttle bus to take us to our hotel (Best Western Plus Abercorn Inn) which was about 20 mins away from the airport. And, that is where our great family reunion really began. Almost all of our guys had arrived – my parents-in-law, other family members from Mumbai and my husband’s Aunt (Aatya) and her family from Chicago (and were waiting for us with hot pizzas!).

After the hugs, kisses and pizzas we retired for the night.

Our real vacation program began from the next day with a two day tour of British Columbia.
